Turquoise Whispers: Handmade Beaded Hoop Earrings with Polymer Clay & Howlite

There’s something about turquoise that instantly brings summer vibes — even when I’m just sitting at my craft table with a mug of tea while the rain taps on the window.

These new handmade hoop earrings came from one of those spontaneous “let’s just see what happens” moments.

I’d been sorting through my bead stash (dangerous territory — you never know what ideas might pop up!) when I found a small bag of turquoise polymer clay discs I had made a few months back. They were supposed to be part of a bracelet project that never quite happened, but when I laid them next to a few howlite beads and frosted blue glass beads, something clicked.

The combination of smooth clay, marbled stone, and that subtle shimmer from the glass felt balanced and serene — like ocean waves meeting the shore.

The hoops are made with simple memory wire, one of my favorite materials for earring designs because it holds its shape quite well. I added a few tiny gold spacer beads to warm up the palette and give the piece a soft touch of light without stealing attention from the turquoise.

What I love about these turquoise hoop earrings is their easy, breezy vibe. They’re the kind of jewelry you throw on with a linen shirt and sandals, and suddenly you feel like you’re on vacation, even if you’re just running errands or working from home. Ocean Calm, Everyday Style. Sort of.

I’m already thinking about making a few more versions — maybe coral and cream next time.
